Chess is Child's Play, written by Laura Sherman and Bill KilPatrick, is a tremendous book to learn how to teach the game of chess to children of any age. As a teacher, coach and founder of my school's chess club I am able to write that this is a masterpiece on the topic. Read the full book review here.
The Meaning of Independence, by Edmund S. Morgan, is the best and most concise book written on the roles of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams to the Independence Era in United States History. I've personally utilized this book in my 8th grade Honors United States History classes in the past and have found it to be a tremendous resource to leading thought provoking discussions with students, as well as, a top-notch resource for me as an educator on the topic of the Declaration of Independence. Written by Dave Burgess; a teacher, a coach and a professional development presenter; this book will knock you off-course and sail you into a new world of lesson planning and captaining of your classroom. If we had a third thumb this book would have a #ThreeThumbZup recommendation. Read the full book review here.
