The Jog Log above marks my first official entry to this blog. This is my effort to record the results of my participation in the #500in2014 Challenge. This challenge consists of a group of twitter #PLN Pals that have entered into a pact to excersize 500 miles in the year 2014. I'm not new to the world of jogging; as I've been a jogger for several years. But to state that I'm an avid jogger is misleading. The workouts conducted in the past have been more to maintain my weight (which for the record is not good; 240lbs) so that I can eat, or should I more accurately write, gorge myself.
More than a New Year resolution to jog consistently, this is a commitment to change my eating habits (I LOVE pizza and it loves me back) and better my life style.

We're using the Nike+ app to record the inforamtion I'm reporting. I've been utilizing the MapMyRun app since 2011 and I'll continue to use it. My iPhone allows me to use both apps at the same time. These apps sync with iTunes and you're able to listen to your music library as you work out. These apps are really great. MapMyRun has a FREE version but to use iTunes I had to purchase an upgrade. Nike+ is also FREE and it has a additional feature titled Powersongs that is awesome. You press an icon on the app and a song list you create automatically comes up to give you that extra burst of energy.
Lastly, an additional goal of this blog is to provide myself and others an opportunity to express themselves about the new year goals they've set. Together We Will reach #500in2014!
